.
this is a true thing.
.
for you see,
.
ART
.
is not hard.
.
.
.
.
anyone can make ART.
.
.
.
.
just take a Sharpie and
.
write on your arm:
.
“This is the new Mona Lisa.”
.
there.
.
you have just made ART.
.
.
.
.
.
no matter what anyone says.
.
.
.
.
.
…but
.
still,
.
maybe not particularly
.
.
.
.
.
GREAT
.
ART
.
.
.
.
.
yet no one should think,
.
“i could never be an artist”
.
because everyone
.
CAN
.
be an artist
.
and
.
in fact
.
everyone
.
HAS BEEN
.
an artist
.
at some point
.
because children
.
LIVE
.
ART
.
without even knowing it.
.
.
.
.
.
on the other hand,
.
GREAT
.
ART
.
is hard as all fuck out,
.
which is why we call it
.
GREAT
.
ART
.
to distinguish it from all the other
.
ART
.
that has been made with Sharpies on arms.
.
.
.
.
.
(but to be clear
.
in my own opinion
.
the original Mona Lisa > Sharpies on arms
.
just personal preference)
.
.
.
.
.
HOWEVER.
.
if you love
.
ART
.
and you want to make
.
GREAT
.
ART
.
and you work really hard at it
.
and learn from it
.
and let it teach you
.
and you are honest
.
and you are willing
.
to fuck up
.
over
and
over
and
over
and
over
and
over
and
over
.
guaranteed
.
eventually
.
even if you didn’t mean to
.
even if it’s not
.
what you set out to do
.
or
.
thought you were doing
.
even if it’s accidental
.
and you don’t see it coming
.
one day
.
you will make
.
GREAT
.
ART
.
so i will hang around
.

  1. Not that I actually know enough about verse to say anything intelligent about it, but…

    …yeah, this was really good.

    • Thanks, E. That’d mean a lot to me if I gave a single shit what you think.

      Love, Mere

P.S. Fine, fine. I give ONE shit. But only ONE.

  2. I believe this is an excellent example of what used to be – and may very well still be – called ‘concrete poetry’. Truth, to boot!

    • Is “concrete poetry” really a thing? I’ve never heard of it (which means precisely zero). Is it a style, or a movement, or??? Please enlighten me, oh English Language Goddess!

  3. nypinta says

I used to draw on my sneakers. Those bitches should be in MoMA.

    Also: love!

    • My parents would’ve (as we said back then) “beat the tar outta me” if I’d drawn on my shoes. Then again, we couldn’t afford the crayons, so…

  4. Mona Lisa sucks, its just old. Who says what is great? Why should I have to agree with judgement from the masses or a few scholars?

    Cowface….now that’s some motherf*ckin great art.

    • That’s my brother.

Yep, the one who says the Mona Lisa sucks.

Is it possible to disown your DNA? What if you call it “art”?

(But thanks for the “Cowface” plug, bro. Always my biggest fan. I love you.)
